HVAC Specialist (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning)

Pay rate: Hiring Salary Range: $48,228 to $62,697

Performs a variety of skilled HVAC maintenance work at DHA-owned properties. Work involves diagnoses and repair, replacement/installation of various sized mechanical air conditioning and heating systems for both residential and commercial units. The work will require preparing written reports (purchase orders and work orders) for the purpose of documenting activities. Repairs fans, motors, pumps, air handlers, fan coils, piping, etc. Maintains vehicle and stock parts, tools, and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability and safe operating conditions. Also, performs other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of units.
Requires graduation from high school or GED and vocational/technical training in HVAC work plus 5 years HVAC experience installing and maintaining HVAC equipment and ductwork, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must possess a State of North Carolina Electrician, H3-1 (Heating Group 3 – Class 1) Contractor License and Environmental Protection Agency Refrigerant License.
Applicant must be a good communicator, work independently as well as collaborate with others, ability to communicate with diverse groups, and collaborate with other work units to perform job functions. Job functions require willingness to endure certain work conditions and the following physical demands: lifting (up to 50 lbs), carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, carry equipment and work from heights. Availability to work nights or weekends and service emergency needs of customers. The job is performed inside/outside under varying temperatures. Qualified candidates must possess excellent analytical, written and verbal skills and display a positive disposition when interacting with residents, vendors and staff. Must possess a good driving record. Working hours: Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, On-Call as assigned.
