Rental Assistance Demonstration Program (RAD)

DHA is participating in the Rental Assistance Demonstration Program (RAD), sponsored by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Thanks to this innovative program, public housing authorities are able to preserve and improve public housing properties and begin to address tens of millions of dollars in backlog of deferred maintenance. Here is some information about each renovation project:

Morreene Road – Development Ventures Incorporated commenced the construction activities recently on the $17MM affordable housing project. The construction includes the expansion of the existing Management Office/Community Building and substantial renovation of the existing 224 residential units.  The project Architect is Aiken Housing Design Partners Architecture, Inc. and construction will be completed by KMW Builders, Inc.  Financing is provided by North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, Hunt Mortgage, and RBC Capital Markets.

Damar Court – Development Ventures Incorporated commenced the construction activities recently on the $20MM affordable housing project.  Construction activities consist of new construction of a Management Office/Community Building and gut rehabilitation of the existing 102 residential units. The project Architect is DTW Architects and Planners and construction will be performed by CT Wilson Construction Company, Inc.  Financing is provided by North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, Prudential Global Investments, and RBC Capital Markets.
