IREM Greater Raleigh-Durham Chapter 105 Announces Induction of Three Certified Property Managers
Triangle -
Recent inductees join a network of close to 9,000 CPM members worldwide
RALEIGH – The Greater Raleigh-Durham Chapter 105 of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) recently inducted three new Certified Property Managers (CPM®) at their January and March general meetings. Shane McGroarty (The Dilweg Companies), Tammy Atkins (Durham Housing Authority) and Dennis Erny (Allen O'Hara Education Services, Inc.) were all sworn in by IREM President Tracey Johnson, CPM®.
CPM is a real estate professional designation that is awarded by IREM and recognized by the National Association of REALTORS (NAR). To attain a CPM designation, candidates must join IREM, as well as their local IREM Chapter. They must also pass several IREM-required courses including marketing, human resources, asset management, and ethics and complete a management plan on a subject building.
Recent inductee Dennis Erny is Regional Director of Allen & O'Hara Education Services, Inc. – a subsidiary of Education Realty Trust. He is responsible for student housing properties at UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State University, UNC-Greensboro, and Salisbury University in Maryland. He's been in the student housing management field and with Allen & O'Hara for 32 years. The firm has been involved with IREM for over 25 years. Erny says that he began his "quest" for CPM designation over 20 years ago, but had to take breaks due to promotions and relocations. The last few years allowed him to finally complete the CPM process.
"Being a member of IREM enables me to learn about other types of property management besides student housing and to network with a group of professionals to share ideas and concerns about our properties," says Erny. "I'm proud to be recognized by such a reputable organization and would encourage all real estate professionals to get involved with IREM due to their excellent training, professional learning in the classes offered, and to become involved with a group of professionals that place ethics at a high priority."
IREM provides education and professional recognition for real estate managers and management organizations. It serves as the nation's leading resource in real estate management and provides training, information, research, analysis, and practical advice for professionals managing all types of income-producing real estate at all career levels. IREM's services are designed to support its members' commitment to maximizing the value of the real estate entrusted to them and to safeguarding the people who live, work, and shop in the properties they manage.
