Moving to Work (MTW)

How would you feel about a recertification once every 3 years instead of annually?
What about the opportunity to increase your earnings without immediate increases to your monthly rent payments?
This is possible under the Moving to Work (MTW) Demonstration, a demonstration program offered by HUD for select housing authorities. The MTW Demonstration allows housing authorities to change HUD program rules to give incentives to families with children, to increase housing choices for low-income families, and to reduce program costs.
The Housing Authority of the City of Durham (DHA) has been invited to submit an application and MTW Plan to HUD to participate in a study that tests alternative rent policies. DHA is notifying its residents, and program participants of our intent to participate in the MTW Demonstration Program. We hosted virtual meetings to share information with residents and program participants about the MTW program, and to recive their ideas about for the program. Recordings and slides from the virtual meetings are available below. Please click here to view a draft of our proposal.
