A Technology Mini Camp for children in the Oxford Manor Community in grades 6 - 8 was a big success. The first of its kind at DHA, the camp was designed and presented by Marshall Burkes, Manager of Education Programs. With the help of Tammy Jacobs, we were able to recruit 6 children, 4 girls and 2 boys, from the community for the class.
It was a great camp! It was wonderful to see the youth get hands-on experience taking apart and rebuilding PCs. They went through each major part of the computer step by step all the way down to removing the PC's motherboard. Marshall covered networking through a fun activity that illustrates how computers are connected from the internet's servers all the way through to multiple devices in the home and office.
