UPDATE 01-24-2020

Relocated resident stipend distribution:

Tomorrow, Saturday (1/25) from 10am - 1pm food stipend distribution will take place at the Durham Housing Authority central office. Security will be present and we ask that the head of household be prepared with identification. If you are unable to retrieve your stipend on Saturday, you will be able to pick up your stipend on Monday at the Durham Housing Authority central office beginning at 9:30am.

Transportation will be provided on Saturday, courtesy of TMAC, beginning at 9:15am. Buses will run continuously with the last hotel pickups happening at 12:15pm.

UPDATE 01-23-2020

Inspections have been completed at McDougald Terrace, Oxford Manor, Hoover Road, and Club Boulevard, and inspections have begun at Edgemont-Elms with Laurel Oaks standing as the remaining property. These inspections should all be complete tomorrow, Friday, January 24th.
Contractors are finalizing a timeframe for the necessary upgrades at McDougald Terrace, but we anticipate that contractors will begin these upgrades no later than Monday (1/27). Updates include replacing gas stoves with electric stoves, making electrical updates, redoing ventilation systems, conducting mold remediation and performing exterminations throughout all of the units.
While these updates are taking place, we are extending hotel stays through February 7th to allow contractors the space and ability to execute work. Food stipends will be provided for residents throughout the entirety of their relocation and we are communicating with residents on when and where their stipends will be distributed.

A reminder to relocated residents that resources are available for you, including mental health care providers at Alliance Health who will continue to visit each hotel and provide their resources. Residents can also call their 24/7 line at 800-510-9132.
If community members are interested in donating supplies we ask that they continue to drop them off at the Salvation Army site at 909 Liberty Street from 10am – 2pm or at 51B Ridgeway Ave. from 10am – 6pm.
