Under the general supervision of the Director of Housing Operations, this full-time non-exempt position performs a variety ofskilled plumbing maintenance work at DHA properties. Work involves installing, maintaining and repairing plumbing systems and fixtures. Cutting, welding and assembling pipes, tubes, fittings and fixtures. Inspecting and testing plumbing systems for safety, functionality, and code compliance. Handling customer queries. Works periodically on an emergency On-Call basis. Must have a good knowledge of water supply, heating and ventilation systems.
Requires High school diploma or GED equivalent combination of education and experience. Five (5) years of full-time journey level experience in residential facilities. Valid North Carolina Licensed Plumber Certification required.
Able to work independently with strong work ethic and positive attitude, respectful with staff, residents and the public. Computer skills required include: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet. Physical dexterity with ability to exert of upto 25 pounds of force and an occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force. Work in inclement weather and confined residential units and commercial spaces. Occasional unsanitary condition in units and work at heights from ladder above six (6) foot elevation.
