About This Community

McDougald Terrace, a multifamily community, was completed in 1953 and is the largest conventional public housing community in Durham. This 360 apartment community was named after the late R.L. McDougald, who was an outstanding Durham pioneer and community leader. McDougald Terrace is located in the southeast section of Durham.

We are currently accepting applications for our waiting list. Completed applications must be returned to our office (1101 E. Lawson Street Durham, North Carolina 27704) for processing. Due to the nature of our application process, we require that you call with application questions and/or submit completed applications on the following days:
 
Tuesdays 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Thursdays 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
 
Scheduling an appointment when returning the application is strongly encouraged. The preferred method to return the application is in-person, however completed applications can also be submitted via first class mail, or fax. Incomplete applications will delay processing time. Please contact our office for further details.
