Moving to Work (MTW)

How would you feel about a recertification once every 3 years instead of annually?

What about the opportunity to increase your earnings without immediate increases to your monthly rent payments? This is possible under the Moving to Work (MTW) Demonstration, a demonstration program offered by HUD for select housing authorities. The MTW Demonstration allows housing authorities to change HUD program rules to give incentives to families with children, to increase housing choices for low-income families, and to reduce program costs.

The Housing Authority of the City of Durham (DHA) has been invited to submit an application and MTW Plan to HUD to participate in a study that tests alternative rent policies. DHA is notifying its residents, and program participants of our intent to participate in the MTW Demonstration Program. We would like to invite you to attend a virtual meeting to learn more about the MTW program, and to tell us about some of your ideas for the program.
