National Night Out in Durham was a Blast!

October 3, 2023 - We had a blast as we kicked off National Night Out in Durham! National Night Out (NNO) is an annual nationwide community event aimed to promote healthy relationships between neighborhoods and law enforcement.

July 13, 2022 - 50% Construction Completion Celebration - The Joyce - An Affordable Senior Community -Coming Spring 2023

Durham Housing Authority and development partner Laurel Street Residential celebrated the fifty percent construction completion at Downtown Durham’s new senior development, ‘The Joyce.’ The Joyce Senior Residences is named after Joyce Thorpe Nichols, who, in 1970, was the first woman and the first Black woman to graduate from the Duke Physician Assistant Program, making her officially the first African American female PA in the country. Ms. Nichols is also a former member of the DHA Board of Commissioners.

2021 Winter Wonderland Event

On Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, the Community Life team hosted an awesome Winter Wonderland holiday event at the Calvert Place Community Center. During the event, residents had the opportunity to take holiday pictures in the family photobooths, play arcade games, and enjoy a fun evening in the community.

National Night Out - 8/3/21

Each year, neighbors in Durham Housing Authority’s (DHA) communities come together to celebrate National Night Out. This event is nationwide and promotes police/community partnerships, crime prevention, and neighborhood fellowship. National Night Out is coordinated by the DHA’s Resident Councils, Resident Safety Operations, staffers and other sponsors of the Community.
